If you are a student in the UAE preparing for your IGCSE, O Level, or A Level exams in June 2026, the game has officially changed.

The Official Decision

In an official statement sent to schools, Cambridge International Education, in close coordination with the UAE Ministry of Education, has decided to move all Cambridge International Schools in the UAE to the Portfolio of Evidence route for the June 2026 exam series.

The most important takeaway for UAE students is this: June 2026 exams will not take place in the traditional format at your school.

This decision was made with student safety and progression in mind, ensuring you can still receive certification for your hard work.

What exactly is a "Portfolio of Evidence"?

Instead of sitting for a 2-hour paper in an exam hall, your grade will be determined by three substantial pieces of work you have completed during your course. Think of it as a best-of collection that proves your skills to Cambridge examiners.

Key things to know about your portfolio:

  • Three is the Magic Number: For most subjects, you need three solid pieces of evidence (like mock exams, past papers, or major assignments).

  • A-Level Students: If you are taking the full A-Level (Linear route), you’ll actually need six pieces of evidence—three for AS and three for A2.

  • Holistic Marking: Cambridge examiners won’t just mark question-by-question. They look at the overall quality of each piece of work to give you a fair grade.

The Situation in Saudi Arabia

While the official circular currently highlights the UAE, there is a strong expectation that Saudi Arabia will follow the same route. In fact, several local board exams in Saudi have already been cancelled for this period.

If you are a student in Saudi Arabia, don’t wait for the final announcement—start treating your current class assignments and mock tests as if they are your final exam. Being prepared now will save you a lot of stress later!

3 Pro-Tips for Students Right Now

  1. Mocks are the New Finals: Treat every mock exam like the real thing. A high score on a mock paper is the strongest evidence you can put in your portfolio.

  2. Stay Under Exam Conditions: For a piece of work to count, it usually needs to be completed under supervision and take at least one hour. Make sure your teacher confirms your work meets these "evidence" rules.

  3. Don't Postpone Your Revision: You still need to know your syllabus inside out to produce the high-quality work required for a top grade (A*).

This shift might seem challenging, but it is an opportunity to showcase your consistent progress and understanding throughout the year. Keep working hard, and stay focused on your studies!
