If you are gearing up for the Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610, here is the first thing to know: the 2026–2028 syllabus is stable. Following the major revisions introduced in 2023, Cambridge has confirmed there are no substantial changes to the subject content for this cycle.

This is great news for students! It means your focus can remain entirely on mastering the current material. Furthermore, all textbooks and resources endorsed from 2023 onwards remain fully valid for your exams through 2028.

Understanding the Syllabus Evolution

To prepare effectively, you must be aware of the key structural and content shifts that took place during the last major update. These are now the standard requirements for your 2026–2028 exams:

Key Topics & Changes to Master:

  • Dichotomous Keys: Now moved to section 1.4.

  • Mineral Requirements: Now found in section 6.3.

  • Medicinal Drugs: Shifted to section 15.2.

  • Inheritance: Now under section 17.1.

  • Updated Terminology: Learning objectives have been reworded for better clarity on the depth of knowledge required.

Topics No Longer Examined:

Save your revision time by ignoring these topics, as they have been removed from the 0610 syllabus:

  • Misused Drugs (Section 15.3)

  • Methods of Birth Control in Humans (Section 16.6)

Your Roadmap to an A*

Success in IGCSE Biology isn’t just about reading; it’s about targeted practice. Based on the 2026–2028 syllabus requirements, here is how you should use our specialized resources:

1. Master the Theory (Paper 4)

Paper 4 is the most significant part of your grade (50%). To handle the complex structured questions, you need deep topical practice and clear concepts.

2. Perfect the Multiple Choice (Paper 2)

Paper 2 requires speed and precision (30% of your grade). These topical books help you identify patterns in how Cambridge asks tricky questions.

3. Ace the Alternative to Practical (Paper 6)

Don’t let lab-based questions catch you off guard. Focus on experimental skills in Section 4, such as design and qualitative analysis.

Final Exam Polish

In the final months before your exam, switching to yearly papers is critical for building stamina and timing. Our Yearly Collections (2021–2025) include all variants:

For Students Appearing in Extended Papers:

Why Students Struggle

The real reasons most students fall short of an A* are:

  1. Weak Core Concepts: Trying to memorize processes like Osmosis or Protein Synthesis without understanding the underlying mechanics.

  2. Poor Exam Technique: Not using the specific "Command Words" (like Describe vs. Explain) correctly.

  3. Ignoring the "Small" Topics: Losing easy marks on definitions or mathematical requirements in the "Details of Assessment" section.

  4. Random Practice: Solving random questions instead of targeted, topical drilling.

How to Nail 0610

Cambridge Biology rewards pattern recognition and structured thinking.

  • Start with topical questions to master each chapter immediately after learning it. Using Iram Habib Malik’s books ensures you are hitting the exact points required by the latest syllabus.

  • Move to timed past papers in the final 2 months. Our Yearly Past Paper collections are perfect for simulating the real exam environment.

  • Analyze Mark Schemes. Always check your work against the official marking criteria to see exactly which keywords examiners are looking for.
